Zahara de los Atunes is a small town on the outskirts of Barbate, that has a tiny population of 3,000, although during the summer this quintuples in size, sharing this increment in size with the neighboring urbanization of Atlanterra, which belongs to the municipality of Tarifa.

Zahara is a small mariner town. The Atun de Almadraba (red tuna) is an important part of the wealth of this town. What once used to be a small town that lived off what the sea offered, has rapidly become a tourist interest destination. This has helped in bringing in an additional source of income to this golden sand beach town!
