The province of Cádiz has an important amount of protected spaces, parks and natural resting spots. In the following paragraphs we'll name a few: Parque Natural del Estrecho o Parque Litoral
In 2003 Parque Natural del Estrecho was declared and Natural Park. Beach area also makes up part of this park. It begins in Punta de San García which is part of Algeciras, and reaches the outskirts of Barbate, more precisely Atlanterra. It has many marine birds, animal fauna, and is mostly made up of pine trees.
Lakes were formed in the Playa de los Lances of Tarifa.
The crown jewel of this Natural Park is Isla de Las Palomas in Tarifa.
Parque Natural de los Alcornocales
This breath of fresh air is in the province of Cádiz, and extends through half a dozen other municipalities such as Los Barrios, Tarifa, Castellar de la Frontera, Algeciras and other inland zones and municipalies. More than 170,000 acres of acorn trees and beech trees as well as a rich fauna of golden eagles. It homes a diverse number of migrating birds, and posseses a spectacular beauty. These are the most important characteristics of the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales, land of deer, vultures amongst other animal species.
Parque Natural de la Bahía de Cádiz
This is made up of a combination of sand dunes, salt marshes, salt mines and vegetation in the center of the Bay of Cádiz that the migrating birds use as a rest stop on their journey. It is made up of 10,000 acres and homes many different species, but one we cannot fail to mention is the chameleon.
Parque Natural de la Breña y Marismas de Barbate
The Parque Natural de la Breña and Marismas de Barbate measures 3,000 acres. Pine trees, cliffs, and numerous species of marine birds have made their home here. These marine birds including seagulls and gannets nest in these trees and cliffs. |
