El Puerto de Santa María is a locality of about 100,000 inhabitants, located on the outskirts of the Rio Guadalete, and neighbors the localities of Rota, Chiclana and San Lucar de Barrameda which lies in the west wing of the province of Cádiz. El Puerto de Santa María is know for its Sherry and is famous for its wine making traditions, great literature writers, such as Rafael Alberti, and of course considered the land of fresh fish and maritime traditions.
Natural resting spots, mile long beaches like Valdelagrana, history, monuments and tradition are the main characteristics of this locality. From the port you can take a relaxing ride around the bay on the "Vaporcito" (ferry) which will take you from Puerto de Santa Maria to Cádiz and vice versa. |
