Tarifa faces Africa, and in between the two continents lies the Straights of Gibraltar, where the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean intermix, resulting in endless varieties of plant life and sea life. During certain seasons you will find dolphins and whales in these waters.

Going on a 2-3 hour whale watching tour will be an unforgetable experience. You will find the common dolphin, striped dolphin, as well as the bottlenose dolphin, and bottlenose whale, the four resident species.

Depending on the season, you will also find orcas, baleen and rorcual. These are the larger whales.
